Even if I loathed them both, I’d still be sad to hear that they were calling it quits. My (extremely) uneducated guess as to why? Retirement. I mean, how many couples do well with that much togetherness?

What I found most interesting about a post on The Wall Street Journal’s website were the comments. People objected to the assertion that a marriage that lasted 40 long years and “launched” both children and several successful careers could ever be called a failure. I get it. Even though I deeply believe that marriage is for life, I don’t think it’s fair to classify their separation as a failure. What do you guys think?
