Holly and I were talking the other night after watching an episode of HGTV's Design Star. Reality TV being what it is, this season's show already has a carefully crafted villain. In this case, her name is Nina. She’s a bossy, loud Brooklynite with larger than life hair, boobs, and attitude. And guess what? I dig her. Holly could not believe it because she found Nina to be over-the-top bitchy. But I've worked on enough reality TV to know that one or two comments can be edited to make a monster out of anyone. To me, she was aggressive and strong, not necessarily bitchy. Holly was shocked...but then happy. She loves that I have such weird taste in women (I told her that I think Nina is kind of hot) and said she thinks it bodes well for her (not that she ever acts like a...well, you know). But let's make it clear: I do not like mean girls who diss each other, spread rumors, and otherwise scheme to bring each other down. But that's completely different from ambitious, tough, outspoken women who just go after what they want without any shame and are often (unfairly, I think) labeled bitches.
What do you think?
