Looks like we missed something during our post about the upcoming 2011 Volkswagen Jetta two days ago -- VW will also offer a hybrid version of the sedan in 2012. From The New York Times "Wheels" blog: "'VW as a brand takes the electrification of the automobile very seriously, and we have a longtime strategy for growing that business,' [VW product strategist Toscan Bennett] said. 'The Jetta hybrid is our first entry in that strategy.'”
According to the "Wheels" post, Bennet says the Jetta hybrid will boast "best in class" fuel economy -- although since he considers the Toyota Prius in a class of its own, it won't actually be putting up better numbers. That's a pretty interesting dodge, isn't it?
