More details about the recent Lexus engine trouble: Toyota is recalling 138,000 Lexus vehicles in the U.S. (the worldwide total is around 270,000) to replace the engine valve spring. According to Automotive News, the fix, which will be free, is slated for "4.6- and 5.0-liter V8 and 3.5-liter V6 engines in certain 2006, 2007 and 2008 GS, IS and LS models."
Toyota has said that the faulty valve spring, which may cause abnormal engine noise or idling, or cause the engine to stop operating altogether, is a result of contamination during the manufacturing process.
Like Lexus' earlier recall of the HS 250h, the manufacturer has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to this latest problem.
