Now the embattled automaker has expanded the deal to cover most of its 2010 models.

The program, which begins today, covers most 2010 Chryslers, as well as 2010 Jeeps, Dodges and the new Ram brand trucks. But 2010 is the cutoff point: A 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, for example, is not eligible.

Of course, most automakers try to clear out existing inventory between July and Labor Day, to make room for 2011 models; this incentive is clearly part of that overall move. But it's not the only move Chrysler is making. According to the Detroit Free Press:
"In addition, Chrysler is offering what it calls the 'National Tent Event' through Aug. 2. Dealers will offer a choice of the two-month payment pledge, interest-free financing up to 60 months on most 2010 models if buyers finance through GMAC Financial Services (1.9% for 72 months) or direct cash rebates that range from $1,000 to $4,000 on various models."
