It may not boast a record-beating zero-to-60-mph time, but the Nissan Leaf goes fast: The manufacturer has closed the books on reservations for the electric vehicle three months ahead of schedule, after reaching 20,000 orders. Nissan expected to hit that mark around December, around the time of the first Leaf delivery. The process began in April.
The Leaf will roll out in five states -- Arizona, California, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington -- by the end of the year, with Texas and Hawaii following in 2011 and a nationwide release by the end of next year.
Reservations for Leafs will start again in 2011, according to a Nissan representative.
